I qualified as a mortgage and protection adviser back in 2017 and started with a large corporate company. I then made the jump in 2024 and set up my own business, Home & Hound.

I have helped hundreds of people and their families find new homes as well as ensure that they are protected if something was to go wrong.

I also specialise in mortgages for military personnel and offer a military discount.

Bea arrived from Cyprus as a foster dog….and never left.

She is the reason Home & Hound became more than just an idea. My house is not a home without her, and giving back to those without a voice is so important to me.

Bea is the face of(and logo) of the business, but her work ethic is questionable at best, she’s often sleeping on the job.

Our approach is simple: we take the time to understand your circumstances, explain your options in plain language and support you throughout the entire process, from initial enquiry to completion. We have access to a wide range of lenders and products, we aim to find competitive rates and flexible terms that work for you.

We cover residential mortgages, buy-to-lets, remortgages, product transfers, further advances and debt consolidation.

Our fee is £250 on application, with 10% going to our charity of the month.

Protection

From life insurance and critical illness cover to income protection, we provide clear, tailored advice to help you find the right level of cover for your needs and budget. Our role is to simplify what can feel complex, explaining your options in straightforward terms so you can make confident, informed decisions.

We work with a panel of trusted insurers to source competitive policies, ensuring you receive quality cover that gives you peace of mind. Whether you’re arranging protection alongside a mortgage or reviewing your existing policies, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

There is no fee for an insurance application.

Why We Exist

I qualified as a mortgage and protection adviser back in 2017 where I worked for a corporate company. In 2024, I made the decision to establish my own mortgage business, Home & Hound with clear goals - to offer a more personal, transparent and client-focussed service, but to also include my biggest passion in life - rescue dogs. It’s a bit of a strange combination, but I wanted to be able to support not only people finding homes, but rescue dogs too. This is why 10% of my broker fee goes towards various dog charities from around the world.

Supporting and caring for dogs in need is something very close to my heart and it reflects the same values I bring to my business - care, patience and genuine commitment to helping others. For me, it’s not just about mortgages; it’s about building relationships, earning trust and making a positive difference wherever I can.

We’re helping raise money and gift donations for @dogstrust (link in bio) Dan is running our favourite dog walk, a 14km route in the Brecon mountains to raise money for Dogs Trust in memory of Tilly & Milo, who were both rescues from the charity. As well as this we’ll be doing cake sales and Willow will be making personalised bracelets in return for donations. Hopefully some calm is on the horizon and with it some drops in interest rates 🤞🏼 We took some time off over the weekend, we visited a couple of National Trust places, Monkey World and the Tank Museum. The realities of being ill: Do you have something in place that will support you in a crisis health situation? Critical illness can happen to ANYONE, it doesn’t matter who you are, your plans or your situation. Time is not a concept to follow when you’re ill. I was told I’d be in hospital for 2-3 nights, however, I’ve just completed night 5 and my time is increasing by at least another 3 nights every time I speak to a doctor. I have a 3 month old baby who cannot stay with me, I’m no longer able to breastfeed because of the time apart and having already experienced PND, I’m worried the additional time apart will have caused further issues. My family and partner are juggling life without me there and so they too will have a financial and mental impact to me being unwell. Here are some of the things that I’m experiencing from being ill: * Financial pressures - time off work and loss of income - The general cost of a hospital stay- parking, travel, the hospital shop - The constant worry of when I can to return to work * Family impact - childcare/pet care - Time away from loved ones - Additional stress and pressure on your partner/family to continue life without you but then to also find the time to visit etc (I’m in a hospital over an hour away from home) * Physical and mental toll on your body - Worry - Guilt - Anxiety - Lack of sleep and rest - What future impact your illness will have on your life moving forwards Physically my body is battered, brain surgery is hard. I’m covered in bruises, holes, drains etc but I’m also thankful and lucky that these things will heal pretty quickly, my head is now tumour-free and my eyesight seems to be returning. Mentally though, I feel completely broken and exhausted, to the point where I genuinely feel I’m at an all time low, an element that will take longer to get better from. But I will get there. I cannot stress enough the importance of having protection in place, just taking away parts or reducing the levels of impact from the list above is an incredible help. There are also a ton of other additional benefits that usually come with a policy and also some add on bits to make a policy even better.

Another act of kindness. This week has been tough and mentally I’m completely drained. Being self-employed and juggling life at the same time is hard work and there’s so much pressure. I’m constantly having to be reminded that you can’t help everyone, you don’t always get the business and it’s so hard not to take it personally and beat myself up and it’s just the way it is. I’m trying to learn to be kinder to myself, something that I’m sure everyone struggles to do sometimes. I ended up not being able to help these customers but it’s so nice to feel appreciated for the work that I still put in. Thank you for the beautiful flowers and treats! 🤍
